Patricia is a middle-class New York City gal in love with Max. But Max is forced by his ambitious Jewish family into a marriage to a girl he doesn't love just to further his career in the medicine. Left behind, Pat goes to Coney Island, where she meets Eddie, a bubble gum machine operator and they develop a relationship.
